> Samsung and Julian Yee prove that ‘nothing is impossible’

-

AKIN to Samsung’s #DoWhatYouCant dictum, Julian Yee has lived his entire life dedicated to overcoming obstacles and defying the odds to do the impossible. Like the S Pen is to Samsung’s Galaxy Note8, Julian and his skates complement each other.

From being a SEA Games gold medallist to becoming the first Malaysian figure skater to join the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Julian’s humble and steady rise has not only resonated with Malaysians, but the Samsung brand.

Through the cutting edge technology that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note’s latest entry, Julian’s journey as a figure skater who has overcome the odds is transposed into Julian and His Magical Skates. The animation bears resemblance to some of the best animated films, thus thrusting Samsung beyond its comfort zones, into the mobile film making arena.

The jaw-dropping part of it all – it was scripted, sketched and illustrated using the Galaxy Note8 and the S Pen by incorporating the “zoetrope” animation technique, which creates movement out of still images. You’ll be wowed by the fact that the animation was entirely “drawn” from the Samsung Galaxy Note8, including the accompanying behind-the-scenes video.

While the storyline is based on true events, some elements of the short flick are fictitious in nature. Still, both Julian and the Galaxy Note8 captivate, draw attention and summon the floodlights. Both man and machine have surpassed expectations, transcended beyond ordinary limits and proven superiority in performance.

Watch the short and the behind-the-scenes captured on Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 and feel the sense of magic and mystery that subtly suggest “do what you can’t”.
