Dress time for men!
> Skirts, the baggy look and other menswear trends
shirts, large jackets and broad suits are part of the look. “If that all sounds a bit too much, you could start by just getting a pair of baggy pants,” says Bangert. That might involve matching a pair of pleated pants with a narrow top or wear a broad top with slender pants. Baggy blouse jackets are also making a comeback. True to their college and bomber jacket heritage, modern blouse jackets, or blousons, are made of nylon. They come in monotone colours or multicoloured. Duffle coats are also part of this year’s look. Shades of blue are the most fashionable colours in this year’s menswear with beige in second place. “Beige pants can be combined with a light blue shirt and dark blue jacket or pullover,” recommends Petra Schreiber from Germany’s association of image consultants, BVFSI. “Beige on a jacket looks great with a minimalist outfit of black pants and black polo neck sweater.” Several designs and patterns from the 1980s and 1990s made a comeback recently and that trend is set to continue. “Check and classic Burberry are fashionable again,” says Schreiber. “Very trendy are floral prints and Paisley,” adds Lang. The dividing lines between genders are also becoming more porous. “There’s a growing amount of unisex fashion,” says Schreiber. There are now skirts and dresses to be found in menswear. Some men may also have to overcome their hesitations when it comes to the transparent look. More easy to wear are designs with asymmetric cuts, shapes and patterns. – dpa
