SANCHEZ WAGES CAUSE ISSUE BETWEEN CLUB & AGENTS

-

ALEXIS SANCHEZ’S wages are already proving a problem for Manchester United in the transfer market as agents demand more, according to reports. The Chilean forward moved to United in January in one of the biggest transfers in recent Premier League history. Arsenal were prepared to let their prized asset go as his contract would expire at the end of the season. Rather than let him go for nothing, the Gunners decided to cash in – with Manchester City also interested. But the former Barcelona star turned down the chance to reunite with Pep Guardiola and signed a £500,000-a-week deal with the Old Trafford outfit. Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved to the Emirates in return but it is the 29-year-old’s wages that have proved to cost United in more ways than one. The striker’s wage packet has made him the biggest-paid star in Premier League history. And according to the Sun, agents have noted these numbers and are demanding a similar sum when United negotiators come knocking for their players. Vicechairman Ed Woodward has been handed a list of players by Mourinho to secure this summer as he plans on closing the gap on Guardiola’s rampant City. Premier League duo Willian and Danny Rose are included as well as Shakhtar midfielder Fred. But reports say that even in the early stages of negotiations, players and agents are demanding huge wages. The Red Devils are already forking out the most a week to their stars. Other top earners include Romelu Lukaku, David de Gea and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who are on £250,000a-week, £220,000-a-week and £200,000-aweek respectively. Paul Pogba is the secondbiggest earner in the Premier League, on £290,000-a-week.
