> UNIQLO opens the first Southeast Asia roadside store in Phatthanakan, Bangkok

-

UNIQLO recently launched its popular roadside store model into Southeast Asia, commencing with the first opening in Bangkok, Thailand on March 23. UNIQLO Phatthanakan is located in bustling East Bangkok, close to the inner city area.

As with other UNIQLO roadside stores, UNIQLO Phatthanakan will bring a brand new experience to customers in the neighbourhood by offering more personal and more convenient UNIQLO shopping. The central promise of the roadside store model is simple: local, one-stop shopping for customers to enjoy in a quick-andconvenient trip close to home.

At the launch , Satoshi Hatase, CEO, UNIQLO Southeast Asia said: “Southeast Asia is now a key growth engine for UNIQLO globally. We look forward to bringing UNIQLO’s unique store, quality service experience to more customers and communities in the region through roadside stores, which have already been very successful not only in Japan, but also in Korea and Taiwan.

“In line with the philosophy of our roadside stores, a central aim of UNIQLO Phatthanakan is to boost the vitality of the local area, becoming a lifestyle and cultural hub and driver of local economic development and prosperity. We hope UNIQLO roadside stores will stimulate local communities across the region, improving convenience for customers, raising property values and attracting new and sustainable businesses around each new store location,” Hatase said.

Local restaurant owner, Mrs Duanporn, echoed Hatase’s sentiments, saying, “We have a strong community here in Phattanakan and we always work together to support local business. We are delighted that UNIQLO has seen the potential of Phattanakan, and we are pleased to welcome UNIQLO as the newest member of our community. I believe the new UNIQLO store will help stimulate business growth in the local area.”

UNIQLO Phatthanakan has a 1,440 sq m sales floor, and will carry a full range of UNIQLO LifeWear items for men, women, kids and babies. As a roadside store, it includes a large parking lot exclusively for UNIQLO customers, and is designed to ensure enough space and accessibility for all needs – families with children, elderly people and people with disabilities.

The Phatthanakan store will also feature a special new type of waiting area, the first space of its kind for UNIQLO in Thailand. Bringing together UNIQLO’s playful shopping experience with Disney’s iconic entertainment motifs, the space is a great place for children to have fun while parents relax and wait.

UNIQLO has also earmarked Malaysia and the Philippines to expand its roadside store model in Southeast Asia.

In keeping with a tradition set at the first UNIQLO store opening in 1984, customers were invited to celebrate the UNIQLO Phattanakan opening at the special time of 6am last Friday, and those who arrived earlier were served a Japanese-Thai fusion breakfast. Until 7am, all customers in the store received a voucher and tumbler, and enjoyed limited opening-sale pricing, starting from 10 baht on some items. Until April 23, customers who spend 1,800 baht or more at UNIQLO Phattanakan will receive a stationery organiser, while customers using GrabReward points will receive 100 baht off purchases over 1,500 baht made at the store.

UNIQLO Phattanakan is situated at Phatthanakan 58 (850 metres from Phatthanakan Junction) in Bangkok.
