‘What seat tussle?’
> BN component parties will comply with and accept decisions of the leadership: Ku Nan
PUTRAJAYA: The ongoing tussle for seats between Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties for the coming 14th general election is just a matter of perception, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor ( pix).
“Who says there is a tussle for seats? I can say for sure that Barisan Nasional does not have that situation.
“If it is among the Opposition, I can’t really tell but surely there is disarray among their parties – DAP, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and PKR.
But as far as I am concerned, BN does not have any issues,” he said after officiating at the “Kad Ceria” carnival in Dataran Putrajaya yesterday.
Tengku Adnan, who is also BN secretary-general, said BN component parties are always compliant and accepting of any decisions taken made by the coalition’s leadership.
“It is simple, BN knows how to overcome the issues involving seat allocations. If we are confident that they can win, we will give them the seat.
“If they cannot win, why do they even demand for seats to contest? These matters can be easily sorted out among BN component parties,” he said, adding that BN operates on a general consensus in which all parties must agree to a certain decision.
His comments came after Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Saturday reminded BN component parties to continue the practice of tolerance and compromise as GE14 nears.
Ahmad Zahid described BN’s unity for the Tapah parliamentary seat as the model of success for the ruling coalition during elections. The Tapah parliamentary seat is held by MIC’s Datuk Seri M. Saravanan while two state seats under it, Chenderiang and Air Kuning is held by Perak MCA chief Datuk Mah Hang Soon and Tapah BN chairman Datuk Samsudin Abu Hassan.
