> Health DG calls for public to be considerate after video of man berating nurse surfaces

-

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has urged the public to be patient when dealing with its staff, following a video of a man berating a nurse while seeking treatment at the Langkawi Hospital.

Health DirectorGeneral Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah ( pix) on Saturday said the video shows the rough conditions hospital staff have to face.

He said the incident is believed to have happened as the man, who was accompanying his pregnant wife, was dissatisfied after an obstetrician failed to attend to them after a long wait.

Noor Hisham said the specialist was unavailable at that time as there was an emergency case.

“The doctor was in surgery to save the life of a patient,” he said in a statement.

Noor Hisham expressed disappointment over the man’s decision to post the altercation on social media, adding that such action would only add pressure on his staff.

He said the nurse in the video should be commended as she was very professional in dealing with the situation.

In the video, the man is heard speaking loudly in an agitated manner while the nurse responds calmly to explain why the doctor was unavailable at the time.

The man had also told the nurse he would make a police report over the condition at the hospital.
