Go cashless at Kuching airport

-

KUCHING: Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAB) yesterday introduced a cashless initiative for its passengers at Kuching International Airport (KIA) in collaboration with Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd through its e-wallet app, which was launched by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Its managing director, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, said MAB was undergoing a digital transformation that encompassed the use of big data analytic devices to better anticipate foot traffic flow and reduce choke points and congestion at airports.

He said the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018-2022, aimed at transforming Sarawak into a digital economy powerhouse, was in tandem with the improvements that MAB has in mind for airports under its management.

“Strategic decisions made by the Sarawak government have made KIA an easy choice for us to launch this Cashless Airport initiative. We have already collaborated with Alipay to provide cashless convenience to our passengers from China at all our international airports.

“We wish to embrace the concept of a cashless airport by extending this further through various collaboration with other mobile payment platform providers so as to offer this facility to a larger passenger base,” he said. – Bernama
