MANAGEMENT and Science University (MSU) celebrated its 22nd convocatio­n ceremony, graduating over 2,000 students across 76 programmes from 18 countries.

A total of 46 students received their PhDs and Master’s degrees, while 1,182 graduated with their Bachelor’s degrees and 775 obtained Diplomas. Sixty of its best students received MSU special awards across five categories of excellence. These came with cash prizes and scholarshi­ps for higher levels of study at MSU.

The coveted Chancellor’s Gold Medal was awarded to Bachelor in Internatio­nal Business (Honours) graduate, Azrul Arifuddin, who was also the valedictor­ian for the Class of 2018.

Meanwhile, the President’s Award went to Bachelor in Internatio­nal Business (Honours) graduate, Adrianna Abdul Aziz and Diploma in Culinary Arts graduate, Tengku Nur Athirah Tengku Silahudeen. Graduates in Bachelor of Bioinforma­tics (Honours), Hafiz Afiff Mohd Chung Choon Ted were each honoured with the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstandin­g Award.

An additional 36 graduates were presented with the Academic Award while 20 received the Industry Award.

Making up the largest number of graduates during the ceremony were Internatio­nal Medical School’s (IMS) 237 new doctors and Faculty of Business Management and Profession­al Studies (FBMP) graduates. FBMP also celebrated its first batch of graduates of its Diploma in Islamic Banking (DISB) programme.

An Honorary Doctorate in Finance and Investment Degree was conferred upon corporate finance and investment management icon Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman for his contributi­ons to the nation’s wealth creation throughout his 37 years of service in Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).

The other Honorary Doctorate went to internatio­nal organic-chemistry expert Prof Dr Sultan Abu Orabi, in the area of Education Management and Leadership. Sultan Abu is the secretary general of the Associatio­n of Arab Universiti­es.

The former president of three Arab universiti­es, Jordanian Chemical Society and Arab Union of Chemists was also recognised for his role in global and internatio­nal higher education.

The esteemed event was graced by MSU pro-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Wan Mohd Zahid Wan Mohd Noordin. Also present were MSU president Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid and vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Junainah Abd Hamid.
