IT IS said that a child’s capacity to learn and absorb information is the highest during the first five years.

Traditionally, women are the first teachers in the family. It is the mother who teaches the child the values he or she upholds. These principles become the foundation for the child’s conviction for the rest of his or her life.

The father also plays his part, acting responsibly and ensuring his family is well taken care of.

For those boys and girls who eventually grow up to be men and women and have their own families, they will subconsciously draw upon these memories of their parents as a guide of how to live their lives.

Thus, we need to be conscious that our actions and reactions will form the basis of how our children will run their lives and families in the future.

You should treasure yourself as a unique person. Do not compare yourself to other people.

Do not rank yourself better or worse than others based on appearances, jobs, possessions, friends, talents, gender or intelligence.

Most of us focus on imperfections. This kind of thinking is to project ourselves as being better than everyone else. In truth, we are all equally valuable.

So let go of your doubts and fears. Repeatedly affirm today that you are unique, that there is no one like you.
