Pogba set to be sold

performance which led to their 1-0 home against to West Brom.

The Portuguese manager is set to wield the axe for tonight’s game with Bournemouth and the crunch FA Cup semifinal against Tottenham on Saturday.

It remains to be seen whether Pogba will be one of those to be culled, but Mourinho has repeatedly proved he has no fear of dropping big name players for big games.

Meanwhile Man Utd legend Gary Neville said Mourinho may never be able to coach out the inconsistency and negative attitude around Manchester United.

Neville fears Sunday’s defeat to West Brom could have greater ramification for everyone around Old Trafford.

“It was dismal, it was a dismal day,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“Jose Mourinho mentioned the words ‘inconsistency’ and ‘attitude’. That’s difficult to coach out of people if that’s the problems that are occurring – inconsistency and attitude.

“So he has to identify the issues that he has in that changing room and in that squad that are causing those inconsistencies and lack of attitude in these types of matches and deal with it at the end of the season.

“I do agree with him, Manchester United didn’t lose the League yesterday, they lost it over a full season and Manchester City have been by far the best team and were always going to win it. But it was certainly a weak way to end.”

Neville does believe United have progressed under Mourinho this season but are still not at an acceptable level for the club.

He added: “I think for Manchester United now, it’s been like this for a couple of weeks, to finish second in the League would be progression.

“They’ve got more points since Sir Alex Ferguson left this season, so again you’d say that it’s not acceptable because at the start of the season Manchester United need to challenge for the League.

“But if you think about progression, second and winning the FA Cup, you could still suggest that’s been a season of success and progression, but not an acceptable level of progression because Manchester United have to be measured by winning leagues.

“But it gives them some confidence of continuing to win trophies.

“Being on that podium, getting a medal around your neck, it does breed confidence no matter what trophy it is, it’s never easy to do that.

“So the game against Tottenham on Saturday is huge for United and finishing the season strong and building that points tally up so that they can go into next season with more confidence is really important.” – Daily Star
