Name your MB, Khaled tells PH

> Johor mentri besar asks why candidate not revealed despite manifesto being launched last month

- BY AMAR SHAH MOHSEN

TANGKAK: Caretaker Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin ( pix) has challenged Pakatan Harapan (PH) to name its mentri besar candidate should the Opposition win the state in the coming polls.

The Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman said PH has failed to name the candidate despite launching its Johor manifesto last month.

He also questioned PH deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s rationale to contest in the Gambir state seat, and whether his intention was merely to win the seat and be named as mentri besar.

“If he does announce himself as the mentri besar candidate, does it mean his position at the federal level is over, which is why he’s looking for positions elsewhere?

“But if he intends to be the mentri besar, then why has this not been announced yet? The people want to know,” Mohamed Khaled said when launching four new bridges yesterday in Jalan Sengkang, Bukit Gambir.

He said the state is in a much better financial position now, adding that its reserves has increased and is in an excellent position.

“This just shows how well we manage our state’s economy. This is also the reason the state has been able to announce budget surpluses each year.”

Muhyiddin served as the state’s 13th mentri besar from August 1986 to May 1995. He was replaced by Abdul Ghani.

In AYER HITAM, Muhyiddin said PH already has a list of possible mentri besar candidates.

However, he said the names could not be revealed as it was part of a “strategic move” undertaken by PH.

He added the secrecy was not unusual as there were states that would only name their head of governments after winning the elections.

On whether his name was in the list, Muhyiddin neither confirmed nor denied it.
