KUALA LUMPUR: More Pakatan Harapan (PH) top leaders, including its president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, have thrown their support behind the youngest candidate in the 14th general elections.

Asking voters in Batu to remember the “key symbol”, which is described as “the key to Putrajaya”, she campaigned for the 22-year-old independent candidate P. Prabakaran.

“Don’t vote for the ‘crooked balance’. Batu voters, you have a choice to make. Although it is a four-cornered fight, you must remember the key. That is the ‘key’ to success,” Wan Azizah said at a ceramah in Taman Dato Senu here on Sunday night.

She urged voters to ensure Prabakaran wins the Parliamentary seat, which has been a PKR stronghold for the past 10 years, held by Tian Chua since 2008.

“Make history; you have to support PH; support Praba, the ‘key’ candidate.”

While encouraging Prabakaran to be an exemplary youth leader, she also cautioned him about turning against party policy and his pledge later on.

“Praba is a young man, if he doesn’t follow our (PKR) policies properly, he will get it nicely, we will ‘fry’ him, okay?” Wan Azizah said in addressing the crowd of almost 1,000 people who braved the rain.

She also urged some of the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat voters present to ensure that PH candidate Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew, who was also present, wins the seat.

Meanwhile, Wan Azizah condemned Teluk Intan candidate Nga Kor Ming after a controversial video surfaced on social media showing the latter purportedly insulting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

She said the DAP Perak chief’s statement that Mahathir did not have long to live and was “postponing” his mahjong game in heaven with the late former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, was unacceptable. “No, no (we should not condone such act). He shouldn’t be saying things like that. Because we are in this together. “Tun Mahathir has also made a video saying he wants to correct all his past mistakes, and I think that is very noble,” she told reporters after attending the “Program Santai Bersama Kak Wan” in Bukit Naning, Muar yesterday. When asked if action would be taken against Nga, Wan Azizah said it was for his party, DAP, to decide the matter.
