> MMMC two highly acclaimed degrees – the MBBS and BDS

MELAKA- Manipal Medical College (MMMC) is prominent, as an institution providing medical education in Malaysia. Established in 1997, it recently celebrated two decades and has graduated nearly 4,000 medical doctors and over 200 dental surgeons.

MMMC has received many accolades, one of which is the BrandLaureate Southeast Asia Superbrand in Education – Medicine award in 2011. The college was also the first private medical school to be granted a fiveyear accreditation term in 2009, for its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme. Its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) seems to be following a similar route since the Malaysian Qualifications Agency’s (MQA) last visit.

Over in India, the Manipal University enjoys distinct recognition. It sits at 11th place now among public and private medical schools in India, and is expected to break into the top 10 very soon.

Among the private schools in India, Manipal University was ranked third by Outlook magazine last year. This gives rise to the school’s high standards of teaching and ups its credentials throughout its portfolio among institutions across the globe, including MMMC in Malaysia.

MMMC is a specialist institution that offers two highly acclaimed degrees – the MBBS and BDS. It also runs a pre-university level Foundation in Science (FIS) programme which prepares students who have completed SPM and O-Level education for its medical and dentistry courses.

Degree programmes offered are uniquely designed for students to complete the first phase of their twin-campus studies abroad before returning to Malaysia for the second phase. The stint in India covers pre-clinical studies for the MBBS and BDS at MMMC’s campus. Students who have been there often rave about its “awesome” facilities for study and play.

The second phase of the programme sees students returning to Malaysia – those under the MBBS programme continuing their clinical training at hospitals in Malacca, Muar, Segamat and Jasin, while BDS students finish reading within MMMC’s campus.

The campus at MMMC is well equipped and boasts good infrastructure for students to pursue their education. Facilities cater to both teaching and learning, as well as recreational requirements, seeing to the comfort and well being of students.

All teaching and learning centres are properly facilitated to provide both teachers and students the best experiences. Both the Manipal and Malaysia campuses are well equipped for a wholesome teaching and learning experience. An auditorium, lecture halls, classrooms, multi-disciplinary labs, clinical skills learning centres and computer labs, and more, complete the learning environment. Other amenities include student hostels, cafeterias, a gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, squash courts, football field, basketball court, simulated games for golf and football among others.
