Justo seen at MACC office in Putrajaya
PUTRAJAYA: Former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo made his appearance at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday.
The Swiss national was seen arriving at the building at about 9am before being greeted by individuals believed to be MACC officers.
Justo was then seen registering himself at the lobby and was later brought to other parts of the building.
It could not be confirmed why Justo was at the MACC office. However, it is believed to be related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) probe.
On Sunday, Justo had a meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Kuala Lumpur, which he posted on Facebook with the caption, “What a great privilege and what an incredible moment”.
On Aug 17, 2015, Justo was sentenced to three years’ jail by the South Bangkok criminal court, Thailand, for stealing 90 gigabytes of data, which included emails, documents and other materials, from PetroSaudi International.
His three-year jail term was cut short after he was granted two separate royal pardons, firstly by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in August and subsequently by the newly-ascended King Maha Chakri Bodindradevarangkun.
Malaysian police had also recorded his statement in connection with the 1MDB investigation in December 2015, while he was still in prison. – by Haikal Jalil
