- BY CHARLES RAMENDRAN

BANTING: Four burglary suspects who crashed their car into two police patrol cars in a bid to escape were arrested yesterday.

Police on crime prevention rounds had attempted to flag down the suspects’ car at about 8.15am, but the driver sped off towards Jalan Bunga Pekan.

Several police cars joined the ensuing chase, during which the gateway car collided with two of the patrol cars in pursuit.

The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle and crashed the car into the wall of a shop.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 30, jumped out and tried to flee but were apprehended and arrested.

A policeman was also forced to open fire when one of the suspects tried to attack him. The suspect suffered gunshots to his leg and shoulder.

Selangor police CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said police found drug abuse accessories and break-in tools in the car.

He said the injured suspect was sent to the Banting Hospital and his condition is reported to be stable, adding that all four suspects have criminal records and one is on the police wanted list.

Fadzil said the case is being investigated for attempted murder as the suspects had tried to run down policemen with their car.

A video of the incident showing the police chase and one of the suspects being apprehended went viral on social media yesterday.
