Is Roman about to sell Chelsea?

-

CHELSEA fans should be worried about the prospect of Roman Abramovich selling the club, a football finance expert has claimed.

The Russian made headlines earlier this week after his visa was not renewed.

He could even be banned from Britain, if things do not go his way.

And the 51-year-old – who has a net worth of £9.3billion (RM50b) – is reportedly unhappy with the way things are going at the London club.

It is no secret that he is unimpressed with the style of football on display at Stamford Bridge and he has reportedly fallen out with Antonio Conte over transfer activity, too.

But the Italian, who managed his side to FA Cup glory on Saturday, is not willing to change his philosophy and the two have locked horns over the club’s future.

Now, football finance expert Kieran Maguire, who worked on the Glazer takeover of Man United, has revealed what could happen if the Russian chooses to sell the club.

He told StarSport exclusively: “If Abramovich sells Chelsea, the alarm bells really start ringing.

“They have proposals for a new stadium but there is no information about how that is going to be financed.

“So somehow they’ve got to find nearly a billion pounds to construct it.”

He added: “If a new owner comes in, then that is an immediate huge project that they’ve got to finance on top of the cost of buying the club.

“There will be very few people who would be able to do that – you’d be looking at the Middle East if they do that.” – Daily Star
