AIRASIA, via its agencies, nabbed a total of 11 accolades at the recent 2018 MARKies Awards held in Kuala Lumpur. Brought by Advertising + Marketing magazine, the MARKies Awards celebrates, honours, and recognises the most innovative, creative and effective campaigns or projects across Malaysia’s diverse marketing services industry.

AirAsia’s 11 wins comprise five gold, five silver and a bronze.

The airline’s “Adventure Live” campaign, an interactive travel series broadcasted via Facebook Live from six destinations in Southeast Asia on its Facebook page, was the shining star that raked in almost half of the 11 awards: four golds for “Best Idea – Digital”, “Best Idea – Mobile”, “Best Use of Digital” and “Best Use of Social” and a bronze for “Best Idea – Viral”.

Meanwhile, the airline’s “48 Hours In Asia” campaign received a gold award in the “Best Idea – Female Audience” category and two silver awards for “Best Idea – Content Marketing” and “Best Use of Social”.

Three more silvers went to the “Santan On Wheels” campaign under the “Best Idea – Public/ Media Relations” category; “Together, We Dare To Dream” campaign for “Best Idea – Sports Marketing”; and “Ultimate Xventure Challenge” under the “Best Use of Radio” category.

“We are thrilled to win 11 awards this year and be one of the most awarded brands, besides being recognised as the best in the digital categories, in line with our commitment towards becoming a digital airline,” said AirAsia Malaysia head of commercial Spencer Lee.

“It was also an honour to have 14 shortlisted entries among other big brands, and winning most of the categories is a testament to our brand position, our incredibly talented team and partners such as Dentsu X (Malaysia) and We Are Kix,” Lee added.

Over at the World Air Cargo Awards 2018 in Shanghai, AirAsia’s cargo division held it place and attained the “Air Cargo Industry Customer Care Award” for the third consecutive year. Held alternatively in Munich, Germany and Shanghai, China, only nine categories are presented at the gala, which celebrates excellence in the global air cargo industry across the world.
