Race to sign Pulisic

-

TOTTENHAM are thought to be set to join Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.

But his stock has since shot up considerably in the Bundesliga since then and he is rated at close to £50m (RM264m), although the Reds retain an interest with Jurgen Klopp the man in charge when Pulisic signed for Dortmund.

The Daily Mail have meanwhile suggested that the Blues have been in talks over Pulisic given Dortmund’s desire to make Michy Batshuayi’s loan spell permanent.

The Belgian striker scored nine goals in 14 games before an injury cut short his temporary spell at Westfalenstadion and Dortmund are keen to extend his stay.

That could play into Chelsea’s hands with the FA Cup winners set to lose Willian, a strong Manchester United target, this summer and Eden Hazard’s future still uncertain.

But Pulisic - also of interest to serial Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich - is now being watched with intent by Spurs after Fulham were promoted to the Premier League, say the Daily Telegraph.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were considering a move to sign Fulham’s 18-year-old whizzkid Ryan Sessegnon, although those hopes were scuppered when the Cottagers beat Aston Villa in the Championship playoff final.

Sessegnon is a key member of the Slavisa Jokanovic’s team at Craven Cottage and it is widely expected he will remain with the club unless a huge offer – of £50m upwards – is made.

But 19-year-old Pulisic has emerged as a potential alternative, say the Telegraph, who add that the fully-fledged US international is admired by the Spurs coaching stuff including Pochettino.

The youngster is versatile with the ability to play on either flank or as a No. 10 - a quality thought attractive by all three of Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. – Express
