This season's hottest accessories trends were previewed at the spring/ summer 2018 fashion shows, held in September 2017. Along with seethrough Perspex bags and net bags, one of this summer's biggest musthaves is the woven basket-style bag, with straw, cane, rattan, bamboo and hessian creations.

Tory Burch, Elie Saab and Loewe are just some of the brands that featured these chic and bohemian retro accessories in their collections. Kate Spade New York created a crocodile shaped basket bag, while Miu Miu showed colourful models made from two materials. Ion Fiz, on the other hand, sent male models down the runway with basket bags.

From the catwalk to the high street Inevitably, major high-street brands like H&M, Mango, Zara and Asos have all got onboard, offering a wealth of choice for fashion fans looking to shop the trend without breaking the bank. Models are available in a variety of materials and in all kinds of shapes and sizes, including large baskets, woven shoppers, round cross-body bags and structured geometric versions.

Influencers, models and other style icons have all adopted the basket bag as the ultimate SS18 accessory for their romantic, hippiechic or even casual outfits. In the early days of spring, fashion blogger and businesswoman Chiara Ferragni was already seen sporting an ultrachic and modern model finished in two materials. Emily Ratajkowski, Lais Ribeiro and Bella Hadid have also been snapped with woven basketstyle bags, showcasing this season's must-have on their recent vacations. – AFP Relaxnews
