Get JHO LOW!

KU A L A L U MP U R : The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has issued arrest warrants for controversial businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, and Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, a director of SRC International, a former unit of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The authorities are also preparing warrants for former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng, and 1MDB’s exchief Shahrol Halmi, Reuters reported citing Bloomberg.

Earlier, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said authorities have gathered enough evidence to prosecute Low in connection with the 1MDB scandal.

“He is the main criminal behind the scandal, and should be brought to face justice as soon as possible,” he said.

Speaking at his first ministerial assembly at the ministry, Muhyiddin said many people have been asking why no action has been taken against Low.

“There is a slight delay as the authorities have to abide by the rule of law, but the people are not willing to wait.

“They want immediate action to be taken ... not today, but ‘yesterday’. That’s how angry they are,” he added.

According to an AFP report, Low’s lawyers have contacted MACC to offer his cooperation in connection with the probe.

This follows media reports that MACC was keen to question Low and Nik Faisal.

Low’s last known address is 69 Tanjung Bungah Park in Penang while Nik Faisal’s is 17 and 19, Jalan Tun Teja 35/16, Alam Impian in Shah Alam, Selangor.

SRC International, which is now under the Finance Ministry after falling into financial woes in 2012, allegedly transferred RM42 million into the personal bank accounts of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
