Commission (MACC) has tentatively agreed to Low’s request to have his statement recorded in Dubai.

Sources said an MACC team undertaking the investigations will leave for Dubai at a time to be decided to meet Low, whose real name is Low Taek Jho, within the next “two or three weeks”.

It is learnt that discussions to negotiate terms for the meeting are ongoing between lead investigators and his lawyers.

Sources said the 1MDB probe team, led by a senior MACC officer, will first track the money trail of the scandal in four countries prior to the meeting.

The countries are Switzerland, United

States, France and the United Arab Emirates.

Attorney-General Tommy Thomas said on Tuesday that Malaysia was seeking mutual legal assistance from the countries to seek help and collaboration in the investigations.

A warrant of arrest was obtained by MACC against Low last week after repeated calls for him to show up for questioning went unheeded.

On Tuesday, Low said through his lawyer that he is willing to cooperate and meet the 1MDB task force, but will only do so in Dubai.

Investigators had said that Low was a key figure in the probe and would be able to shed light into the case, including the whereabouts of the missing billions linked to 1MDB.

Attempts to contact several top officials of the 1MDB task force for comments yesterday went unanswered.
