A memorable time at ‘The Top’

-

SOME 200 children from Pusat Jagaan Permata Kasih were thrilled to bits having been invited to attend a breaking of fast dinner at Top View Restaurant and Lounge in Penang Island’s tallest building.

At Level 59 of the famed Komtar building, now a modern skyscraper filled with touristy attractions under one roof, the little ones were excited over the bird’s eye view they had of Penang’s heritage enclave, even the promenade on the mainland. They were further awed on seeing the sumptuous buka puasa spread prepared by award-winning chefs of the restaurant, and were wonderstruck on their experiential tour of The Top.

Said Only World Group Holdings Bhd (OWG) founder and CEO Tan Sri Richard Koh ( pix, centre, in batik): “The treat is part of the group’s corporate social responsibility efforts where the unfortunate are accorded special attention.” And so they were, at The Top, Penang’s latest “hotspot” drawing busloads of tourists.

Visitors are spoilt for choice at this one-stop centre that is literally “at the top”: from an educational boutique aquarium to the Penang State Gallery featuring an exhibition on durians and another on tongkat ali (a root), a fabulous amusement park, a “Dino Gym”, a variety of food outlets, the state’s tallest private social club, complete with a gymnasium and a spectacular view, not forgetting the observatory deck and “Rainbow Skywalk”, plus bistros and bars at the rooftop.
