- BY JASON LIM

VIVO’S latest flagship smartphone, the X21, has finally arrived in Malaysia, bringing an innovative and futuristic unlocking feature in in-display fingerprint scanning technology.

Simply put, with just a press on the screen, it allows users to unlock the device without the need for a rear fingerprint sensor.

“We make it our mission to enhance our customers’ mobile experience through our pursuit for innovation in mobile technology, that is most relevant to consumers’ ever-evolving lifestyle,” said Vivo Malaysia chief executive officer Mike Xu.

“Vivo’s new flagship – the X21 – is a manifestation of this commitment.

“Through our indisplay fingerprint scanning technology, we are making this secure and intuitive unlocking system more accessible to consumers, so that more people can enjoy this security feature.” Besides the cutting-edge fingerprint sensor, the X21 has upgraded its facial recognition technology with Face Access, to reinforce security.

For an immersive viewing experience, Vivo X21 takes pride in its impressive 6.28in FHD+ Full Display.

It is built with a super slim notch, and 1.66mm side bezels to achieve a significant screen-tobody ratio of 90.3%.

Design-wise, the X21 has ditched a metal body for a new 3D glass back cover in either black or white colourways, using a new colour-bending technique to create a glossy sheen appearance.

Meanwhile, the device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660AIE processor, with 6GB RAM plus the expandable 128GB ROM to optimise the overall user experience.

Another notable feature includes the upgraded AI photography with improved 12MP front and rear camera, at F2.0 and F1.8 respectively with Dual Pixel Sensor.

Thanks to the larger photographer units, X21’s camera significantly boost the clarity of the photographs taken.

With the X21’s AI Face Beauty and AI HDR features, a subject’s face can be smoothly scanned and identified to create the ideal facial enhancement settings, even in a backlit environment.

Retailing at RM2,299, the Vivo X21 is available at all Vivo concept stores and authorised resellers, and is also available exclusively with Digi.

Additionally, purchases made at Vivo concept stores can be paired with a Digi postpaid plan, where users can enjoy an additional 60GB of high-speed internet for 12 months.
