PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against a fellow party member for alleged abuse of political position pertaining to several Jalan Masjid India Ramadan bazaar lots.

The Muar MP urged the anti-graft agency to investigate Bukit Bintang Pribumi Youth chief Mohd Noorhisyam Abdul Karim over allegations that he abused his power by overcharging traders.

“As the leader of Armada (Pribumi Youth), I do not tolerate any form of corruption, even if it is committed by fellow party members. Also, as an MP, it is my responsibility to ensure that abuse of power must be eradicated so that we can heal our beloved Malaysia.

“I want the authorities, both the police and the MACC to investigate this case. If there is any wrongdoing in my conduct I would expect the authorities to investigate me too,” said Syed Saddiq outside the MACC headquarters yesterday.

Mohd Noorhisyam, however, said he wants authorities to investigate those who accused him of misusing his political connections to secure rights to Ramadan bazaar lots and renting them out at exorbitant prices.

He lodged a police report to that effect at the Dang Wangi police headquarters yesterday. “I lodged this report to reject and deny these accusations which have gone viral, and to enable the authorities to investigate these claims made by certain parties,” he said.
