Gerakan not out of Barisan yet

GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan members who are not in favour of the party’s decision to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) can table a resolution against the move at the party’s delegate conference in November.
The party’s Youth wing deputy chief, Andy K.S. Yong ( pix), said most members had agreed with the decision after a lengthy discussion between Gerakan’s central committee and state chairmen.
“They can bring up the matter at the conference on Nov 17,” Yong said yesterday.
On whether Gerakan could attract more support after leaving BN, he said: “I believe we could make a comeback if we play an effective role as a constructive opposition to provide check and balance.”
Meanwhile, Johor Gerakan chairman Datuk Teo Eng Tee, said he is now an independent senator and will continue with his services.
He said he was appointed as senator in January and has more than two years of service remaining.
