IGP: Jho Low no longer in Macau

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, has left Macau for an unknown destination, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun confirmed yesterday.

“We received an email from our Macau counterparts two days ago. They did not mention the date he left and Immigration Director-General Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said Low is believed to have multiple passports,” he said after attending a blood donation programme held in conjunction with the 211th Police Day celebrations in Bukit Aman yesterday.

Mohamad Fuzi said with the latest development, it would be more difficult to locate Low.

Police said they have informed seven countries through an Interpol “red notice” that Low is being sought over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

A Bukit Aman team recently sent to Hong Kong had narrowly missed arresting Low as he managed to escape to Macau.

At the blood donation event, SgtMajor Mohd Zaini Ahmad was named the top police donor, with 260 pints collected from him by the National Blood Centre.

Mohd Zaini, who is in his 50s, was among three policemen who received top-donor awards from Mohamad Fuzi.
