35 years of absolute toughness

RECENTLY, G-Shock celebrated its 35th anniversary of absolute toughness reputation with a stream of engaging activities during a weeklong roadshow at the Centre Court in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

To commemorate the momentous milestone, the roadshow revisited the storied heritage and evolution of the classic 5600 series, better known as the Origin Series, which evolved from the very first G-Shock DW5000C.

The square design that is said to symbolise the origin of all G-SHOCK provides evidence of the tireless efforts and continuous innovation born from a developer’s belief that he could create a watch that would not break, even if dropped, and represents the final form every G-SHOCK aims to achieve. The extensive Origin Series earned G-Shock its venerable ‘Absolute Toughness’ reputation through a combination of four major components – structure, function, design and material. Its style and design withstood the test of strength when G-Shock was pushed to its limits and broke the Guinness World Records title for the heaviest vehicle to drive over a watch last October. In his speech, Casio Malaysia managing director Tezuka Itsuro said: “Celebrating 35 years of Absolute Toughness is a fantastic milestone for the brand. “We shall continue to push the boundaries of innovation to ensure we are always ahead of the game.”
