Call to keep Selangor clean and green

> ‘Incentive’ for keeping Kanching Eco-Forest Park free of litter

-

IT’S a Saturday and you had a great time picnicking by the waterfalls with your family, but don’t forget to clean up after yourselves! Better still, why not pick up rubbish in the surrounding area and stand a chance to win a prize?

In order to appreciate nature’s beauty, one must first inculcate awareness and be accountable in keeping nature’s surroundings clean.

With this in mind, Tourism Selangor introduced the “Clean & Green” campaign, which is aimed at promoting a cleaner and greener environment and raising awareness.

That said, the state tourism board has come up with a programme where volunteers who help keep surroundings at Kanching Eco-Forest Park clean, may win a prize for their endeavour.

The campaign, which began in this year is a collaboration between Tourism Selangor and Firefly Sdn Bhd; the airline company, the main sponsor. It will run until February 2019 and offers the chance to win prizes through lucky draws.

To boost awareness on the campaign and encourage cleaner and greener spaces, Tourism Selangor organised an event at the Kanching Eco-Forest Park. At the event, the organisers shared about the objectives behind the campaign and what it requires of visitors to the forest park, plus how they can win prizes for their conscientious efforts in keeping the park free of litter.

Campaigns like “Clean & Green” are crafted to inspire and motivate the community, and remind us of our social obligations and standard living principles as inhabitants of this planet.

“Tourism Selangor is dedicated in promoting public awareness on the importance of systematic waste management by educating the public about depositing waste items into proper waste bins.

“This ensures the ecotourism system will be well managed,” said Tourism Selangor general manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din.

For a chance to win, simply collect rubbish from around the area and have this placed at designated locations.

You will also need to fill out a form to record your effort and include your contact details.

Other sponsor and partner companies and organisations include the Selayang Municipal Council, Kuala Selangor District Council, Mentri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI), Bangi Wonderland, RHR Hotel Selayang, RHR Hotel Bangi, Sunway Lagoon, SkyTrex Shah Alam, Farm in the City, Commonmeal Forest Park & Resort, Minnature USJ, Eazy Nest Sdn Bhd, Safa Trading, Camp5 Climbing Gym and Carlton Holiday Hotel.

While the main objective of this campaign is to preserve nature’s beauty and encourage the public to maintain good and responsible social habits, it also hopes to raise awareness on waste management and raise the image of the country, which can indirectly boost Selangor tourism globally.
