’Tax honeymoon’ still on, GST-SST difference absorbed

-

VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has extended the tax holiday for its range of models with the Price Protection Scheme (PPS). The scheme covers all Volkswagen models registered from now till Nov 15, while stocks last.

With the implementation of the sales and service tax (SST) on Sept 1, any difference in vehicle price based on the 0% GST prices will be absorbed by VPCM.

The scheme is applicable to all Volkswagen models sold in Malaysia, both locally-assembled and imported. However, there is also limited availability of stocks and customers should take this opportunity to place their booking for a new Volkswagen and enjoy the PPS to avoid disappointment.

VPCM managing director Erik Winter said: “The response in the past three months since the announcement of 0% GST has been overwhelming and we have been trying to keep up with the demand for stock.

“The introduction of the PPS is our way to assure our customers that we have their best interest at heart, so we urge customers to place their bookings now and enjoy the extended tax holidays”.

VPCM has also revised prices of all Volkswagen models with the implementation of the SST. With the exception of CBU models, the new prices of Volkswagen cars are now lower than previous prices with 6% GST. Additionally, the company’s PPS is still applicable for all models registered by Nov 15 and while stocks last. Since the introduction of the PPS, VPCM has seen a rise in demand for Volkswagen models. While VPCM is doing its best to meet the demand, stocks are very limited and customers are urged to not delay placing their bookings

Winter said: “In line with the government’s initiative, we are very pleased that the new tax structure has allowed us to be more competitive with our prices. With the new tax structure, the reduction of Volkswagen prices ranges from 1.5% (for the Tiguan Comfortline) to 2.6% (for the Vento Highline) compared against the previous tax structure with GST. We believe that the new prices, as well as our recently-introduced PPS makes owning a Volkswagen even more attractive to Malaysians.”

“As for aftersales service, the prices are determined by the service tax rate, and customers can download the revised service pricing guide on the Volkswagen website,” he added.

All Volkswagen models come with three years’ free maintenance, five years’ manufacturer’s warranty and five years’ roadside assistance.
