PETALING JAYA: The #SaySomethingNice Campaign, an annual unity campaign by Zubedy (M) Sdn Bhd, has closed its curtain for 2018 by celebrating Malaysia Day with a project called #LagendaSomethingNice.

The late Datuk Sudirman Arshad was selected as the icon of the project, which was carried out in collaboration with the National Archives, to pay tribute and remember him as our unity icon.

An exhibition of Sudirman’s belongings was also showcased.

Daniel Dharanee, Sudirman’s former manager, described the singer as “colour blind”.

“He never looked at anyone through their race or religion. He was the patriot singer, who sang for all. It can be seen in his concerts, where his fans come from different races and backgrounds,” he added.

Also present were National Archives director-general Datuk Azemi Abdul Aziz, Sudirman’s family members and former dancers Dharanee and Joanne Ng.

Anas Zubedy, managing director of Zubedy (M) Sdn Bhd, expressed his appreciation to the National Archives for giving the opportunity to work together on the project.

Anas also shared his hope of introducing the campaign to every school.

“We should appreciate both (days), where Hari Merdeka is when we look at the past and Hari Malaysia is when we focus on the future.”

The #SaySomethingNice Campaign is a unity campaign organised by Zubedy and friends since 2011.

It covers the period between Aug 31 to Sept 16 to create a positive Malaysia by “creating million moments of unity”.
