Taking care of pain
> A newly-discovered ingredient offers faster and more effective relief for those suffering from joint pain
IF YOUR joint pain persists despite diligently taking medication for years, there are a few reasons why this happens. For most people, the main solution for joint pain is to take supplements containing glucosamine and chondroitin, two ingredients which help in the synthesis of joints, and rebuilding and repairing joint cartilage.
Joint supplements containing glucosamine and chondroitin are widely available and sold in the form of tablets, capsules, soft gels or drink mixes.
Both of these are produced naturally in the body to form cartilage and connective tissues, and are also among the most commonly used supplements for joint health since the 1960s.
The clinical dosage required is high, about 1,500mg of glucosamine and 1,200mg of chondroitin daily.
However, some find it difficult to stick with a treatment plan involving glucosamine and chondroitin, due to two reasons: they need to take three to four huge tablets every day, and are required to take them for up to eight weeks before seeing any effect.
The multiple dosages and lengthy waiting time are two of the most common reasons cited by patients as to why they fail to complete a treatment plan.
Many have even tried switching from one product to the another, comprising different brands, different dosages and forms, hoping to find a better solution to relieve pain and discomfort.
However, with new advances in bio-technology and nutrition studies, researchers have discovered newer forms of ingredients to help relieve joint pain, which now come in fewer, but more effective doses.
This unique patented ingredient is made from undenatured type II collagen, derived from chicken sternum cartilage.
Just taking a single 40mg dose once a day can produce results that are up to three times more effective than glucosamine and chondroitin in reducing joint pain, as well as improve joint health, flexibility and mobility more effectively.
This ingredient, known as UC-II, was put to the test in multicentre, randomised, doubleblind, placebo-controlled clinical trials for osteoarthritis.
A total of 186 patients with the condition took either 40mg of UC-II, a combination of 1,500mg of glucosamine and 1,200mg of chondroitin, or a placebo, for 180 days.
The study results showed that UC-II significantly improved joint functions, mobility and flexibility compared to the placebo, measured using three different assessment tools – Womac, VAS and Lequesne functional index.
Researchers found that after 180 days:
UC-II significantly reduced overall Womac scores, compared to the placebo as well as the glucosamine and chondroitin combination. This means that UC-II works better in improving joint functions and movements.
UC-II also significantly reduced total Lequesne and mean VAS scores compared to the placebo, and glucosamine and chondroitin combination, meaning that UC-II works better in relieving joint pain.
It is also important to note that UC-II has other advantages compared to glucosamine and chondroitin, as it does not contain shellfish and is safe for diabetes patients.
UC-II’s main function is to control and reduce the abnormal immune response of the body at the joints that cause inflammation and damage of joint cartilage.
It also helps to reduce the destructive inflammation processes and accelerate the repair processes, to help joints to rebuild as fast and as naturally as possible.
Ask your pharmacist for the new trial offer for UC-II. The special offer for one-month supply of UC-II is now available at pharmacies at RM65.90.
