the bad attitude of Malaysian drivers, and the suspicion among the races.

He says that in Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur, no one will give way when you are backing out from a parking lot, unless that person wants the parking space.

“In Japan, when someone gives way for you to cut in, you say thank you by blinking your hazard lights twice. This is manners,” Zunar adds.

He also wants to address Malaysians’ suspicion for each other be it someone of a different race or religion.

“Our country cannot progress if we are not unified and trust each other. So I want to highlight this.”

On his latest record-making comic art which was done on Vinda tissue paper, he said he was surprised at how durable the material was, as it could take two to three layers of paint.

The art was done using acrylic paint on eight 4ft-by-4ft pieces of tissue, measuring 16ft by 8ft in total.

The piece was put on display at the Central Avenue in Sunway Pyramid shopping mall from Sept 14 to 17, after which it was sealed and taken to the Vinda Group office, according to Vinda Group Southeast Asia marketing director Evelyn Chan.

When asked about the possibility of going digital with his cartoons, Zunar says he prefers drawing on paper wih brushes.

“When you make a piece, you need the original. If you want to show it in an art gallery, you need an original. If it is digital, [where] is the original?”

He adds that using a brush on paper gives his work its signature look.
