72 cops sacked for various offences: IGP
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 72 police personnel have been sacked for numerous offences including bribery and misconduct as of September.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said those booted out comprised various ranks, including Supt, DSP as well as rank and file policemen.
“Action was taken based on disciplinary investigations. Some 1,484 personnel were also subjected to disciplinary action including suspensions.
“The offences included negligence, power abuse, failure to report for duty as well as involvement in crimes,” he told a press conference after officiating the Integrity Seminar and launch of the police’s Integrity Journal at the Police Training Centre yesterday.
Mohamad Fuzi said a total of 3,096 cases involving offences committed by bogus cops were recorded last year.
He said the force had reduced the number this year and stressed that the force would continue its focus in improving its integrity.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Fuzi said the remains of former Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan, exhumed on Monday, will be buried again this Friday.
He said the second post-mortem examination is being carried out and will be completed soon.
“This is a court process. The exhumation was done in accordance with proper religious guidelines.”
The exhumation was carried out by Petaling Jaya City Council staff under the supervision of officers from the National Forensic Institute at the Muslim cemetery in Section 9, Kota Damansara. Ashwin Kumar
