Big win for Astro at first Asian creative awards

ASTRO took home 21 awards out of 49 categories at the inaugural Asian Academy Creative Awards ( AAAs) that was held at Mipcom in Cannes, France, on Oct 15.

The AAAs was established to honour the creative industries in content creation and media production, and to celebrate excellence in craft and technical disciplines across multiple platforms including t el evi s i on, digital, s t r e a mi n g and emerging technologies from various countries around the world.

Astro will now represent Malaysia in these categories to compete against 15 other countries at the Gala Finals to be held in Singapore on Dec 6 and 7.

Among Astro’s winners are Astro Original Series Do[s] a ( above, right) – a collaboration among Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore – which took home three awards; Astro Awani for best news programme; and Kamarul Bahrin Haron of Astro’s Malaysia Memilih programme for best news presenter.
