PUTRAJAYA: Sixteen goods have been listed under the Festive Season Price Control Scheme in conjunction with Deepavali which falls on Nov 6, said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution.

He said the scheme would be in force for seven days starting on Nov 3.

The goods listed include live chicken, standard chicken, super chicken, local and imported lamb meat, eggs from grade A to C, red chili, potato, tomato, red onions, coconut and lentils.

“Traders are required to follow the controlled price for those items and not exceed the maximum price set by the government.

“They also need to place special pink price tags for controlled price items to differentiate them from other items,” he said at a press conference to announce the Deepavali Festive Price Control Scheme 2018 in Putrajaya.

Traders who do not follow the regulations will face a fine of up to RM500,000 and a prison term of up to three years.

Traders who fail to display the pink price tag will be fined up to RM20,000.

Officers from the department will conduct spot checks to ensure traders comply with the price control scheme during the period.

Customers can lodge complaints against traders who do not comply with the scheme at the Malaysia Government Call Centre (MyGCCC) at 03-8000 8000, or SMS “KPDNKK ADUAN <complaint details>” to 15888 or send a WhatsApp message to the ministry at 019-279 4317.
