‘REDS HAVE LEFT UTD TRAILING’

-

LIVERPOOL and Manchester City are the only two Premier League teams who are capable of winning the Champions League. That’s the verdict of former Reds striker Stan Collymore who thinks Premier League sides should be doing better against their continental rivals. Collymore also claims that Manchester United should be happy just to reach the semifinal stage of the premier European competition. The Red Devils won their opening Champions League game against Young Yoys but were then held to a 0-0 draw by Valencia. And Collymore’s prediction will be music to Reds supporters but might not go down so well at Old Trafford. “Liverpool and City are the two English teams who can win the Champions League,” he wrote in The Mir

“But United and Spurs should be looking at the semi-finals as a minimum as well. Naturally, as a former Liverpool player, I’d love to see them go one step further than last season But if City were to be the English team to triumph, I’d be very pleased for them as well. People might scoff at that and say, “Come on, Stan, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham have squads made up of 25 internationals”, and I understand that. But I’m still confident they will all go through and once you see them going into games against opponents who raise the hackles of players, fans and clubs alike you will see them responding accordingly.”
