Man held for alleged molest of young daughters

- BY ASHWIN KUMAR

KAJANG: A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his daughters aged one, three and five at his home in Semenyih since last year.

His actions came to light after the suspect’s wife, who is also the children’s mother, lodged a police report on Oct 23.

Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said the woman, who is a marketing executive, learned about the sexual assault after her second child complained to the children’s grandmother.

Following the police report, the victims were sent to Kajang Hospital for an examination.

“Checks by the hospital’s gynaecologist and obstetrician showed that there were old tears on the girls’ hymens,” he said yesterday.

Ahmad Dzaffir said the eldest daughter also revealed that the father had inserted his finger into her private part and did the same to the youngest child.

“Investigation also found that the first victim (the couple’s second child) had complained that she had vaginal pain after being ‘poked’ by the suspect last year, but none of the family members believed her,” he said.

Police detained the man at 11.45am on Oct 25 at his workplace in Sungai Long.

He was taken to the Kajang court on Oct 26 to obtain a remand order.

The case is being investigated under Section 376(b) of the Penal Code for rape.

The investigation papers will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor with recommendations for the man to be charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.
