Madrid ready to ‘double Poch’s wages’

-

REAL MADRID are reportedly ready to double Mauricio Pochettino’s wages in a bid to try and tempt him away from Tottenham.

The European champions are looking for a new coach after Julen Lopetegui was sacked following the 5-1 thrashing by Barcelona in El Clasico at the weekend.

The Spaniard lasted just 16 games in charge after overseeing a shocking start to the new season at the Bernabeu.

Defeat to their Catalan rivals left Real ninth in La Liga, seven points adrift.

Lopetegui has been “provisionally replaced” by B-team coach Santiago Solari while bosses search for a permanent successor.

Spurs boss Pochettino has been linked with the job previously, but after hinting he is unhappy in north London due to the lack of transfer activity at the club, now could be the time to pounce.

The former Espanyol boss has made it clear that he would one day like the chance to manage Real and now, according to The Sun, they are willing to double his current wages to tempt him.

Bernabeu chiefs are reportedly ready to offer him an eye-watering £85m (RM467m), five-year contract to take over the reins.

Real would need to pay compensation to Spurs as Pochettino has only recently penned a new contract worth £8.5m (RM47m) a year.

And according to the report, bringing him in is part of a long term plan to lure Harry Kane to the Bernabeu.
