Stop the blame-game, Anwar tells govt
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government should look to the future and stop playing the blame game over the failures of the previous administration.
He said although he believes PH should not be obsessed with the past, he understood why ministers in the new administration have to point out the wrongdoings of the previous government.
The newly-elected Port Dickson member of Parliament noted there are strong and compelling cases to prove that because of the excessive expenditure and decisions in the past, PH has to endure and deal with the problem in the present.
“We understand people want to know what is next, what are our plans for the present and the future. But that should not stop us (PH) from expressing our views or (presenting) new evidence (against the previous government),” he said at the Parliament lobby yesterday.
Anwar was commenting on a statement made by former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, who said the PH government needs to concentrate on delivering its promises to the people who voted for them in the 14th general election, and forget what happened in the past.
According to Daim, what happened in the past is history, and the new administration should stop pointing fingers at the previous government.
When asked to comment on the performance of ministers from PKR, Anwar said he was generally satisfied although there were complaints made about their performance.
“They are trying their best. Of course, we monitor and discuss things and I think its timely we reflect within the party to make sure they perform well.
“But so far, I am quite happy with their performance and I always advise them to be more positive,” he added. – Bernama
