Current and emerging skills

-

EMPLOYERS are seeking talents with problemsolving, critical and analytical thinking, teamwork, collaboration and effective communication skills to fill current and emerging jobs. With that in mind, Wawasan Open University (WOU) offers these in-demand skills while inspiring lifelong learning to meet industry needs.

Taking advantage of this, Shelby Yoong Chiew Lin ( pix) graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Psychology (BAPS) in 2017 and continued with the Master of Arts in Psychology (MAPS) in July. She aspires to become an educational psychologist or a 21st century educator.

Yoong is now a freelance tuition teacher after being involved as a full-time educator and trainer for seven years in training companies and enrichment/learning centres. “I hope to merge the academic syllabus with selected 21st century skills for youngsters, and I know MAPS will open more doors to help develop my related skills,” she said.

Yoong plans to use her masters to undertake research on how to create a fulfilling educational experience for learners that enhances their soft skills and technological knowledge. She is determined to provide 21st century education that embraces technology and interactive learning.

For the January 2019 intake, new students of MAPS will only pay RM3,030 for two courses (max six credits) in the first semester with zero fee in the second semester, or alternatively RM6,930 for three courses (nine credits) in the first semester with zero fee in the second semester.
