Kechara urges public to do more for the poor
PETALING JAYA: Six families living in the People’s Housing Project of Desa Mentari received household items on Saturday through the #GrocerySomethingNice campaign.
Held for the third year in collaboration with theSun, 15 staff members of Zubedy Sdn Bhd joined Kechara Soup Kitchen volunteers in their monthly provisions distribution programme. The provisions were distributed by six teams at five different blocks.
Each family received a month’s provisions from Kechara and also a rice cooker and kettle from theSun.
#GrocecrySomethingNice project manager Adila Izzaty urged the public to join the campaign and lend a hand to help poor families.
“I have come to understand that laziness isn’t the only cause of poverty, it is also the situation and conditions that they live in or face, such as physical and mental disabilities, a broken marriage or the loss of a loved one.
“This project is very meaningful to us at Zubedy as we stand hand-in-hand as Malaysians to help our fellow Malaysians who are in need. I hope more Malaysians can come forward and help us promote our campaign,” Adila said.
#GrocecrySomethingNice aims to have a “cross-cultural donation” where, for example, if the donation is from a Chinese family, the groceries will be given to a Malay family.
Those interested in participating can donate RM1,200 for groceries worth RM100 to be provided to families in need.
Contributions can be remitted via Kechara Soup Kitchen (Maybank account number 5122 3133 4874).
