MAHB doubles earnings in Q3
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30 doubled to RM168.49 million from RM80.93 million a year ago contributed by higher group revenue and other income, and lower overall cost recorded in the current quarter.
The group’s revenue for the current quarter under review grew 1.5% over the corresponding quarter last year from RM1.21 billion to RM1.23 billion.
For the nine months period, its net profit tripled to RM699.21 million from RM207.47 million a year ago due to unrealised gain on the fair value of investment in GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) amounting to RM258.4 million and higher revenue of RM194.8 million.
The group recorded revenue of RM3.6 billion, 5.7% higher than revenue of RM3.41 billion for the corresponding period last year, underpinned by the growth in airport operations.
MAHB’s network of airports recorded 99.6 million passengers in the current period under review of Jan 1 to Sept 30, representing a growth of 4.5% over the corresponding period last year. During the same period, international passengers traffic improved by 6.8% while domestic passengers traffic increased by 2.5%.
Correspondingly, aircraft movements improved by 2.3% with international aircraft movements increased by 6.8% while the domestic aircraft movements declining by 0.5%.
