Good turnout at BSH counters
KUALA LUMPUR: There was a good turnout at centres over the weekend, where Malaysians were seen putting in fresh applications and updating their personal information pursuant to eligibility for the government’s
Cost of Living Aid (BSH).
This is the second and third phase of the BSH disbursement. The first phase involving a disbursement of RM1 billion began on Jan 20, involving 3.8 million registered beneficiaries in the household category.
Over 100 people were seen at the Jalan Duta Inland Revenue Board office. Those present at the centres expressed their satisfaction with the BSH initiative, but expressed hope that the Pakatan Harapan government will consider increasing the amount under the various categories, such as household, singles and persons with disabilities.
A check at Pudu’s Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) on Sunday found about 180 people submitting their BSH forms.
The value of the BSH grants vary at RM1,000 for married couples with a monthly household income of RM2,000 and below, RM750 for those earning RM2,001-RM3,000, and RM500 for those earning RM3,001RM4,000 with an additional RM120 per child (limited only to four children). For single applicants with a monthly income of RM2,000 and below, the grant value is RM300.
Payments are scheduled in three phases – January, May and August.
Eligible recipients in the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur can go to nearby Inland Revenue Board branches at Jalan Duta, Jalan Raja Chulan, Wangsa Maju and Cheras, or UTC Pudu, to register or update their personal information for the BSH assistance. – Bernama
