The gift of joy

O 7-Eleven Malaysia brings celebration to home

-

IN the spirit of festive celebrations, 7Eleven Malaysia alongside NGOHub Asia organised a Chinese New Year celebration with a group of senior citizens from Joy Garden Old Folks Home in Semenyih.

The joyous occasion began with the traditional practice of tossing yee sang to welcome good fortune for the year. The residents were then treated to a sumptuous Chinese New Year lunch consisting of delectable dishes which included braised noodles, fried rice, curry fish and many more.

After feasting, the volunteers spent some quality time with the residents by having singalongs and sharing meaningful conversations. To complete the celebration, volunteers also distributed red packets and goodie bags containing snacks and beverages.

Overlooking a lake and surrounded by lush greenery, Joy Garden Old Folks Home is a non-profit charitable organisation under House of Joy that administers shelter and care to a group of underprivileged people from various walks of life, including neglected elderly folk, the disabled and the mentally ill. The home currently cares for about 43 residents with the help of caretakers.

7-Eleven Malaysia’s general manager of marketing Ronan Lee said: “At 7-Eleven Malaysia, it always brings us great joy to provide festive cheer to those who do not have the privilege to spend it with their families or loved ones, as well as those in need.

“We hope that this celebration will be a memorable one for them as they start the new lunar year on an auspicious note.”
