A warm welcome at DISTED

-

T Oease the transition from secondary school to college life, DISTED has prepared an orientation programme for 2020 to enable new students to familiarise themselves around campus and to get to know their fellow students and faculty members.

The new students orientation was designed to help freshmen make a successful transition into the DISTED community. During the orientation, new students will have an opportunity to learn about the college’s academic and community expectations, campus resources, scholarships, programmes and services.

As Penang’s first private, a Not-For-Profit higher learning institution, DISTED provides accredited and globally recognised Pre-U studies, foundation studies, diploma programmes and 3+0 degree programmes, the college also offers financial aid to qualified high achievers and good students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

New student Marcus Teoh Kean Hung from the Diploma in Food and Beverage Management programme who spoke about his orientation experience, said: “It was indeed a fun and informative experience at the orientation. I made a lot of new friends during the Ice Breaking session and the event also allows me to understand the college’s academic expectation.

“I really had a great time during the orientation. It was very informative and interesting, especially the scholarships and bursary session,” said Cambridge ALevel student Woon Kai Qyi.

Another new student from the Cambridge A-Level programme,

Khor Tze Quan said, “I was delighted to see some familiar faces enrolled at DISTED with me. Studying with friends is so much fun! I’m looking forward to grow my knowledge and social skills together with my friends, old and new alike.”

Last but not least, an “Ice Breaking” activity was also conducted by the Student Representative council to help the new students to overcome their anxieties, start friendships and basically have fun in their new educational journey at DISTED.
