Another Sime Darby head tests positive for Covid-19
PETALING JAYA: Another local head of conglomerate Sime Darby Berhad, group chief executive officer Datuk Jeffri Salim Davidson (GCEO), has tested positive for Covid-19.
Sime Darby said Jeffri is currently under quarantine and receiving medical treatment.
“Employees who had been in contact with the GCEO have been placed on self-quarantine and are undergoing the requisite medical examinations,” said the company.
It added that Jeffri had not visited any of the company’s premises over the last 16 days. However, the company is was working with the relevant authorities to ensure the health and safety of its employees, including undertaking contact tracing.
Sime Darby said in ensuring the continuity of the group’s business, the group chief financial officer Mustamir Mohamad has assumed the responsibilities of the GCEO.
Sime Darby’s Malaysian premises have been shut from March 18 to 31, in line with the government’s movement control order .
It said the group had initiated its business continuity plan and all its Malaysian-based employees are working remotely, thus causing minimal disruptions to the group’s operations in Asia Pacific.
Sime Darby Berhad and Velesto Energy Berhad chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad had also tested positive for Covid-19.
Another top corporate figure who tested positive for the virus is UDA Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Hisham Hamdan. – by Rajvinder Singh
