AFTER the government declared that Malaysia will be placed under a nationwide movement restriction order from March 18 to March 31, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, nearly all automotive companies issued media statements announcing that their respective offices, branches, assembly/manufacturing plants and factories, dealerships and service, repair and parts centres were to halt operations during the period.

We received those statements from companies representing brands like Honda, Volkswagen, Perodua, Nissan, Infiniti, Renault, Toyota, Lexus, Proton and Yamaha. All will resume their operations on April 1.

However, certain aspects of those companies’ operations will remain operational, especially emergency and breakdown services, online transactions/correspondence and virtual store/showrooms.

“Furthermore, TCEC is offering the option of door-to-door delivery of each customer’s new or subscribed vehicle, which will be sanitised prior to the handover. However, to exercise extra caution while the country’s movement control order is in place, deliveries will only take place after April 1.

Although all Renault showrooms and service centres are closed from March 18 to March 31, customers who require on-thespot breakdown assistance will still be supported.

“Every TCEC employee still on essential duty will undergo daily health screening to ensure their safety and consequently enhanced peace-of-mind for customers.
