PETALING JAYA: Malaysian musicians are keeping their hands warm and glued to their instruments by serenading fans for free online via live stream during the movement control order (MCO) .

Fans are be able to catch acts such as Malaysian keyboard wizard Lord Lokman, internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter Lyia Meta and pianist Eddie Zachariah.

In accordance with the MCO, performances would only comprise solo or duet acts.

Persatuan Pemuzik Tempatan Selangor deputy president Edwin Nathaniel told theSun that the idea was the brainchild of his 30-year-old son Daryllel, who is a guitarist.

He also said the move was to forge a strong bond between musicians and fans rather than the musicians just spending their time practising.

“Daryll, being tuned to the new generation, came to me with the idea. And voila! We knew we had to carry on with this.

“I called up my fellow musicians and told them about it and they agreed.

“This is our way of giving back to society, especially our fans. Music is a remedy for many things – for boredom and for the weary,” Edwin said.

He added that this would keep the musicians “warm and geared up” for the upcoming Musicians for Musicians Benefit Concert, which was postponed recently.

Edwin also said this would encourage more musicians to join the association to form a strong body.

The public can tune in to the livestream on the “Musicians for Musicians Malaysia” Facebook page from 7pm to 8.30pm on Mondays to Saturdays throughout the MCO period.
