Maybank to support Mercy’s Covid-19 Pandemic Fund

-

PETALING JAYA: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) yesterday announced an immediate cash contribution of RM4 million to be channeled through Mercy Malaysia’s Covid-19 Pandemic Fund, in support of its Covid-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan.

The contribution will help ensure aid is speedily provided to alleviate the impact to the severely burdened healthcare system as a result of the outbreak as well as reduce the humanitarian challenge faced by frontliners and volunteers working tirelessly to contain the further widespread of the virus.

The bank said the initiative will also help ensure all communities are well prepared, especially those with the weakest health systems, in addition to supporting the country’s formal health system through the Health Ministry as well as the Crisis Preparedness Response Centre.

Maybank chairman Datuk Mohaiyani Shamsudin said the contribution was part of the group’s commitment to support the government’s efforts to halt the spread of the Covid-19 virus within the shortest time possible.

“We hope our support through Mercy Malaysia can relieve some of the burden faced by the frontliners and volunteers by providing adequate supply of equipment, so as to enable uninterrupted medical treatment to be administered as well as accelerate the containment of the virus all together,” she said in a statement.

Maybank is also enabling the public to help support the fund through its online crowdfunding platform MaybankHeart.
