Grealish ‘deeply embarrassed’
ASTON VILLA midfielder Jack Grealish has issued a public apology on his social media for breaking self-isolation during the coronavirus crisis.
Mystery surrounds the midfielder as police hunt for the driver of a Range Rover involved in an accident in Birmingham on Sunday morning. The £50 million (RM263m) rated ace is alleged to have gone to a party with mates and was then pictured in the street while another picture emerged of a damaged Range Rover.
The midfielder allegedly left his details with a passerby before making his way home after the incident. Aston Villa have fined him for the incident and he has also released a video message admitting he is deeply embarrassed.
He said: “Hi, everybody just want to do a quick video message just to say how deeply embarrassed I am by what has happened this weekend.
“I know it is a tough time for everyone at the moment, being locked indoors for so long, and I obviously got a call off a friend asking to go round to his and I stupidly agreed to do so. I don’t want anyone to make the same mistake as I did.
“I hope everyone can accept my apology and we can move on from this.”
Aston Villa have responded to the actions of Grealish with a statement of their own this afternoon as well.
It reads: “Aston Villa is deeply disappointed that one of our players ignored the Government’s guidance on staying at home during the Coronavirus crisis.
“Club Captain Jack Grealish has accepted that his decision to leave his house was wrong and entirely unnecessary.
“The player was fined (£150,000/RM788,000) with the proceeds donated to The University Hospitals Charity in Birmingham.” – Express Newspapers
